Women’s Helpline for Metro Manila?

anyone knows what it is? As you can see, I have a campaign to stop domestic violence and at the top of my list is at least reducing and/or educating Filipinas about the “shame” or lack thereof of verbal, physical and emotional abuse even in a close-knit society like ours.

I have been googling and asking friends if they’ve heard of any national women’s helpline (phone number women could call for support) but I’m still clueless. Are ashamed of admitting abuse can happen? Are we having a difficult time delineating the boundary between a loving relationship and an abusive relationship?

If your good-for-nothing husband swears at you every day for serving leftovers (when in fact, he hasn’t earned a decent living in years, if at all), if you get beaten up “once in a while”, if you are emotionally blackmailed for years and years … there is something wrong in the relationship. And while I understand that Filipinos would rather bear the “shame” than go to counseling, if there’s a helpline women can call, and remain anonymous, to regain their dignity back, whether they decide to stay or leave their husbands or partners, that will be a big help.

So please, if any of you heard of anything for Metro Manila, or other regional centers, do let me know.
