You calling me colored?
Not done with my email folder clean up. In light of the recent brouhaha over Asianweek publishing an article, Why I Hate Blacks, by a so-called Asian Supremacist “writer”, I think this email is apt.
It’s bad enough that Euro-Americans are discriminative of colored people, but “colored” people discriminating among themselves too are a tad stupid if I may say so. So the next email I opened from a friend is too good not to share:
From: (name withheld)
To: marion
Subject: best poem of 2005
Date: Wed, 30 Aug 2006 09:00:30 +0800This is too good to not forward….
This poem was nominated for the best poem of 2005, written by an African child:
When I born, I black.
When I grow up, I black.
When I go in sun, I black.
When I scared, I black.
When I sick, I black.
And when I die, I still black.
And you white people.
When you born, you pink.
When you grow up, you white.
When you go in sun, you red.
When you cold, you blue.
When you scared, you yellow.
When you sick, you green and when you die, you gray…
And you calling me colored??So you see…be careful when you call other people names!
Good day!
as you can see, the date on this one is a little more up to date than the one I read this morning … hey, I’m catching up with my email cleaning!

[...] Favorite #3 - When I came upon this post the other day, I said, “Wow…what an interesting way to look at prejudice and racism.” It’s all in how you define “colored.” Check out what Maria discovered about the word at her blog Maria Finds (the blog name is so appropriate!) in her post “You Calling Me Colored?” I chuckled.
