Dell Invasion
First they came to Walmart … now Dell, the original proponent of the “Personal Computer” is bringing it’s desktop, laptops, printers and what have you to Germany, France, the UK and very soon, to a neighborhood near you!
When I bought my first desktop, it was a Compaq [bought out by HP], a friend was telling me a “Dell” is much better because it’s customized to whatever you need, ergo, it’s “personalized” and unique. Nothing happening. No bolt of thunder hitting me with awe, no lightning strike … probably because I was just happy to have a computer and finally join the 20th century.
From the [very] small operation Dell had running, the company is now a megamillion operation and is expanding from its market base in the US outward. Is that a sign that Dell is getting hit at home? Or are they finally realizing the potential to compete in other markets? Either way, it’s welcome news, competition makes for better products and/or lower prices.
