Spanish Nights
I was Entrecarding [as usual] and as I came across the Romance category, it reminded me of my once-upon-a-time love affair with Romance books. You know, those cheesy books with gorgeous Spanish gentlemen and blonde British girls … Uh yeah, not afraid to fess up to reading Mills and Boon when I was growing up. You CAN actually pick up a lot of information on foreign places and traditions from reading those mushy novels. After all, in order to write successful books, even if fiction, it has to be well researched.
Some of the places that really struck a chord with me were seaside Spain and the French Riviera. Oh-so exotic destinations! I can’t wait to visit Europe and hop on one of those flights to Tenerife. Ahhh the Canary Islands of Tenerife, them of long ago lore about the Dark Ocean full of Monsters … The Garden of Hesperides [Garden Full of Apples] … and Homer’s Elysian Fields.
Tenerife/Canary Islands is called the “Island of Eternal Spring”. Just don’t remind me that in recent days, it is becoming QUITE busy as a jumping port for African migrants. No! Not my romantic piece of hot Spanish Nights!
