Crazy Egg and No Rush Blogrush

Was able to get my head above the water (from entering events) for a minute and I thought, hey why not write a post. Then I realized, wow, since November 2006, I’ve written 580 posts and received over 270 comments and from an average monthly visitors of 89 around this time last year, I’m averaging in the thousands this time around. Oooh oooh oooh!

Anyway, there’s this web site called crazy egg which makes analytics extra interesting. Their tag line is “Visualize Your Visitors” and I like the fact that it gives you a heat map to show you which links/posts/ads/area are popular, it also lists where your visitors come from and tacks which links are clicked out. All on an overlay of your site, right on crazy egg’s web site. I’ve been on it only for a couple of days but it’s a cool new toy … er analytics tool.

One of the things that I found while playing around crazy egg though, Maria Finds is loading rather slow [okay, f-ing stalling], fiddling around, I figured my Blogrush widget is pulling my load time down. So I just have to remove it. At some point, even though I crave for more traffic, I have to evaluate the value of widgets I put on my blog. Out blogrush for now. I haven’t seen any notable traffic coming from it anyway. has anyone had a positive experience [in terms of traffic generated] with BlogRush?

I’m getting… like, 10 visitors a week from blogrush. I used to get zip, zero, nadda… until somehow, I got some people in my network (don’t ask me how) and now I get points for their traffic too so I guess my feed goes out to more widgets (who really knows how this all works??)

Anyway, the short of it is… if I’m only getting 10 visitors a week from blogrush and if their widget is slowing me down too - it’s outta here!

Thanks for the site tip -I’m going to check it out tonight (I so love new statistics!!)

Maria says: Yeah, I’ve been getting traffic from Blogrush too, but nothing compared with Entrecard or ads I put on Project wonderful. Crazy egg is my new toy. We’ve done a similar mapping thing while I was doing Usability at my former work and I think it’s absolutely brilliant how somebody used such technology successfully. I’ve been on it for less than a week and it’s amazing how you are able to see where your visitors come from but also which visitors clicked to next. I’m still fiddling with the free version but if my blogging can support the cost I might just upgrade in the next couple of months …
