I came across a write up for Spire USA – makers of durable laptop bags – and it says: :D urable, functional, comfortable, stylish and guaranteed for life … meant to last and can endure anything you put them through!”

I wonder if the people who wrote it have kids?

My last laptop sleeve and then  laptop bag went through a one-year old’s hands and they were never the same again.

My 17-inch Toshiba monster needs a bigger laptop bag and normally don’t fit the regular ones out there. Not even the huge Targus backpack I bought.

So what happened to the laptop bags I bought? Well, the sleeve doubled up as quick diaper/baby wipe bag and the backpack became a multi-use macbag, baby food carrier,  stinky diaper receptacle (for when we’re out walking) and otherwise regular backpack where you try to cram just about anything.

My backpack has been to concerts (to carry wiring), to the hospital (to carry clothes for the new mommy) and has been burped on and ripped apart by dennis the menace, otherwise known as my son.

Now that I’ve thought about it, I wonder if Spire USA has laptop bags big enough for my Toshiba Satellite? I’m so over using one of those flimsy messenger bags pretending to be laptop bags when there’s nothing that protects my laptop from damage except maybe sheer force of personal will.
