Who went all out on Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving sale)?
Probably not a lot of people, but the sales ticker still climbed at the time. Better than expected.
Now, in a bid to once again pry open those tightly closed consumer wallets, here comes THE sale to beat all other sales of the year – After Christmas Sale – the new Black Friday, with deeper discounts, bigger selection of price-slashed items, from high-end retailers to bankrupt circuit city. Best deals tro be had all around. Just keep looking, online and in-store.
And haggle. You’d be surprised what you can get out of it. For those with iPhones or wireless web-access, well, you’d probably luck out if, while shopping, you check out a competitor’s price and they have it lower. You don’t have to skip over there ‘cos I heard retailers are willing to match competitor prices just to keep you in their store.
Even Walmart is said to be doing a sale (apart from their regular rollback and deals of the week) though they’re forecasted to increase their North American sales by 3% (but of course, when times are tough, we flock to the biog box!).
So who’s doing what? I heard the little brown bag – Bloomingdales – is offering anywhere from half price off to additional 60% discounts on Juicy Couture and Ralph Lauren Home.
You can find up to 75% discounts at Macys, the country’s largest department store chain. This is the time to buy jewelry and home items it seems.
Home Depot is offering some $300 of on General Electric (GE) appliances and 30% off on select Dirt Devil products.
Old Navy is up 75% on clearance items. Gap s going for a 50% discount plus an additional 25% during check out on already reduced items. Both are offering deep discounts online. Banana Republic is offering in-store and online price-slash of 60%+20%. The great thing about these three stores is that you can order online from all off them at one site and have everything delivered together at one low shipping rate.
And Avon, my current favorite cosmetic company, has routine free shipping for purchases as low as $10 (at least it looks like that. I am subscribed to their newsletter since I’m a regular customer).
So ladies (and boys), get your shopping shoes on and happy bargain hunting!
