What’s scarier than having a hesitant student nurse prepare to stick a (thin, long) needle on your arm and she’s giving this vibe that’s like,
“ok, should I or shouldn’t I stick this in .. whew, I can do this … Sir, is this the right angle … mind over matter …”
Heaven help me!
Last night, a sudden onset of persistent vomiting and nausea saw me and mom at the ER. We decided to go to the government clinic as it was the nearest and it has gained a better rep over the years (cleaner too!). It was well past midnight and I guess that’s when most student nurses come in to do their training. Hah.
Like I said, the (Sta. Maria, Bulacan) hospital is clean and looks efficient (local government hospitals used to have real bad reps in the past for being dingy, miserable operations), they even now have private rooms with AC (oooh). But it’s still harrowing to learn that the half dozen or so kind staff at the ER are mostly novice and one inexperienced doctor-in-training (?) writing out incorrect prescription (she put down serc 60mg instead of 16mg) which the pharmacist has to correct and refer back to the orderly in charge. That is a little worrying, don’t you think? LOL. But no biggie, cos she wasn’t the one who was responsible for giving me the meds, just writing out prescription and the orderly checked it when it arrived.
The last time I walked into ER for the same situation was some ten years ago, and five years before then so let’s hope I’ll be kicking this thing for a loooong time to come. I hate needles.
